Neighborhood Spotlight: Old Town Apartments
The Old Town neighborhood is always a popular destination, but even more so in the warmer seasons when Chicagoans can enjoy patio seating and explore new spots and shops. For those moving to Old Town, both 1225 Old Town and the Scott Residences provide excellent amenities and luxury apartments of all sizes. Last year, our Director of Brokerage Services, Darrell Scott, moved into an Old Town apartment. We asked him a few questions about living in Old Town and his favorite places to frequent.
Why did you choose Old Town?
Old Town is the best of both worlds. It’s walkable to the heart of city, Michigan Ave., the lake, but also has a strong neighborhood feel with a lot of great restaurants, shops, green space, and areas to walk the dog. The neighborhood make-up is a nice mix between walk-ups, mid-rises, brownstones, and sleek, glass high-rise buildings.
Which bar or restaurant is your favorite?
My favorite restaurant in Old Town either Topo Gigio Ristorante for great Italian food or Twin Anchors for the best barbecue ribs in the city. My favorite bar in the neighborhood is Woodies Flat, but I also like Pour House and Benchmark.
What’s the best part of living in Old Town?
I like the fact that I can walk down Wells St. and have access to a quick place to grab a bite to eat, fine dining, great bars, or take in a comedy show at Second City or Zanies. On days when it’s a little warmer, it’s just a quick walk to Oak St. or North Ave Beach and not too far from the southern end of Lincoln Park.
What’s your favorite building amenity in Old Town?
My favorite amenity is the roof-top deck at 211 W. Scott and roof deck pool at 1225 Old Town. Surprisingly, both have great panoramic views of the city with endless views and 1225 Old Town’s roof deck gets amazing sunsets to the west.
